Blog Marketing For Realtors and Agents – How to Get a Flood of Free Search Engine Traffic!

What estate agent or do not want lots of free traffic beating a path to their website or blog? We spend countless hours and small fortunes attract prospects to our sites and mobile phones, trying turning them into profitable customers. Would not you rather have a marketing technique that ran on auto-pilot, sent you a constant stream of targeted prospects to your site or blog and will cost you only pennies or even nothing at all?

I will warn you right off the bat. This marketing tool is a little bit technical, but not so bad if you hang there. If you are unfamiliar with internet marketing and blogs in a general sense, there will be a bit of a learning curve for you. It is worth the small hassle to learn this marketing technique. Trust me. I am not "technical", so if I can do this, you can sure.

This marketing technique is based on knowing what a WordPress blog. If you are not familiar with WordPress or blogs in general, check out WordPress site and the rest of this article will make much more sense.

So now that you know some of the fundamental principles of what a WordPress blog is and what a Studio theme / template for your blog, can we go a little deeper on "search engine optimization (SEO) marketing your blog, which is what will drive all this wonderful, free, targeted traffic to your blog.

"Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is a great run, but the concept is simple. And it is a good marketing idea for us Realtors or agents to learn if you want free traffic visiting your website or blog.

Let me explain …

You know when you do a Google search for something, and a list of Web site results returned that match your keywords you have written? There are usually pages and pages of results, but you only look at the first 1-2 pages, right?

Well if you look in the top search bar, you can see the total number of results, Google has found which is usually in the millions. You have to go through pages and pages of results to see the millions of website performance.

So how some of these websites owners have a marketing genius to get listed on the first 1-2 pages, while the other millions of websites stay on the bottom of the results? SEO Marketing!

There are ways to optimize your website so search engines like Google, Yahoo, MSN, Bing, etc. rank your site to be most relevant to what the person searching. Therefore you get rewarded with a higher position on the results page and get more traffic to your real estate website or blog.

Tons of SEO companies and tech guys trying to "game" the search engines so that their sites come up as # 1 or # 2 result. The problem is that search engines like Google are changing their requirements constantly, so it is almost impossible to artificially get higher rankings.

But of course there are some fundamental ways to gain higher positions, and most of them are directly related to the content on your site.

The content of your site, or text / word is one of the key features search engines scan to assess your website. That is why I think blogs are so effective because you are constantly writing new, relevant content for search engines to find.

You can do the same with regular static websites but it is harder. You need to constantly update and add new content, which is very more time consuming and technically difficult than with a WordPress blog. Plus, WordPress is much more user friendly for "non-technical" Realtors or agents like me.

Here we begin to get a little more technical, so buckle up …

In your WordPress blog, there are tools called "plugins" as software developers have made to improve various aspects of your WordPress blog. They are incredible for all aspects of your marketing.

Many plugins are free, some costs a little money. They are easy to install and you only search for the plugin you want, download it and activate it and "Forget it!" (Sorry, that's my best Italian impression).

For example, I use a plugin called "Contact Form 7" which automatically creates a contact form on our "Contact Us" page. I do not have to deal with all programming, coding, HTML, or some of it junk. I just download the plugin, adjust settings, and it is up and running on my WordPress blog. It seems like programmers have thought of a solution like this for anything you can think of. It is fantastic!

But plugin, which I will camp out and tell you about is called "ScribeSEO." It is specially built for you to get a higher search engine rankings with your WordPress blog.

Since most of us web surfers do not look past the first 1-2 pages of results when you search, we need to get our estate or agent blogs as high as possible on these results pages, right? Of course, that assumes you want free, automatic traffic control.

This will be a little hard to picture if you have not seen or used a WordPress blog, but we'll try it anyway. When you post to your blog, you will write a title, description and the actual content (or Body) of your blog post.

The title you type will show up on search engine results page. Proceed and do a search on Google right now, so you know what I'm talking about. See that blue "headline" for all the results? This is the title. Like any other kind of marketing piece is the title or headline is important to capture your prospects attention. So put an extra effort in this part.

Under this title will be your description that will tell the surfer what your post is about, in a nutshell. See it? It is usually about two sentences long, just below the blue colored title.

The content of your blog post will not appear on the search results page, but search engines will still be scouring the content with their little robots.

What ScribeSEO does (after you've written your title, description and content), it scans the three aspects of your blog post to see how likely it is to be "favored" by the search engines and achieve higher rankings in search results. Opinions? If not, just know that they are three large keys to focus on.

Now there are certain "keywords" that people commonly search for, like "Seattle real estate" or "Real estate job." Search engines will look good keywords in your title, description, and blog post content.

This is what ScribeSEO doing you, it examines these three areas and gives you a score from 1 to 100 The lower the score, the more work your messages need to be "optimized" for search engines. The higher the score, the easier your blog posts can be picked up by search engines.

If you get a low score, which I did, an embarrassing 39 ScribeSEO gives you a list of recommendations for items you need to fix or change. It could be as simple as starting your title with a better keyword or using more hyperlinks in your post content. This could suggest that you extend your blog post, as most search engines like to see a minimum number of words.

A things that happened to me yesterday was that ScribeSEO said I have no keywords in my title, description, or content. What the heck? I was stunned. I do not remember the topic I wrote about, but I know it was something special.

One of the ScribeSEO proposal was adding more keywords for my content. Again, I forget what the topic was, but let's say it was "marketing". I went through my blog post and added the word "marketing" a couple more times. I hit the button to re-analyze my post and it took up the keyword "marketing", as I had hoped. I've added it to my title and description and what do you know I got a score of 100

The cool thing is that ScribeSEO tells you exactly what to do and how to do it. It is perfect for Realtors or agents like me who need clear, step-by-step, non-technical directions.

Once you've made the recommended changes, you can re-analyze your blog posts again and see if your score has gone up. It is possible to get 100 on each, because I've done it so far. Ok, I've had to change and re-analyze a few times a single blog post, but I am always determined to get the 100th It's like I'm trying to beat the program or something.

It is frustrating was when I went to make changes in a score of 79 and got a 39 when I re-analyzed my blog post. I was ticked! But it was my fault. I tried to be cool and make the changes I'm ScribeSEO would say instead of just following them step-by-step. That's what I get! Eventually I got 100 even. Yee haw!

The thing I dislike about ScribeSEO is that it costs money. It is not really a valid gripe, I just wish everything was for free. The pricing options really not bad at all, especially when you consider how much traffic this one marketing tool can get you.

But remember you must use it with a WordPress blog. I think you can use it on regular websites, but I would recommend going with the blog because it is so much better for ScribeSEO marketing.

They also have a free "test drive" so you can try it. Honestly, I did not know if I even would be able to work dang thing, so I did the test drive first and got comfortable with it. After that I was sold!

Anyway, I hope this marketing idea was not too difficult to keep up. If you are a "technical" you're probably saying, "Dude, give me a break. I already know this stuff." And the rest of you think, " Blog what? Search eng … huh? "In both cases it is a great marketing tool to use and learn more about.
