Also known as Piles, hemorrhoids are collections of inflamed tissue in the rectum. Piles comprise of blood vessels, support tissue, muscle, and elastic fibers. They can have a range of sizes. Piles may be internal or external. Internal piles are located between two and four centimeters above the opening of the anus. They are the more common type. External hemorrhoids occur outside on the edge of the anus. Many people have piles, but the symptoms are not that common.
